PRESIDENT’S GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Terry opened the meeting at approximately 7:30pm and welcomed everyone to the April meeting.

 

New Guests:
A new guest attended who is believed to have bought Jeff’s white TJ…but we didn’t do an introduction of members, so... 

 

•NOMINATIONS FOR OFFICERS FOR FY08/09 IS NOW OPEN. 

VEHICLE PAINS AND PROJECTS:

 

•Terry finally has his air leak fixed and can now air up!

•Paul C had is little Toyo at the meeting, looking really trick!  Paul explained in detail all he did but basically he put in some huge axles under that thing, and 40’s!  40 INCH MTR’s!  Phew! Has a Dana 70 off a dually in the rear, and offset the pumpkin inline with the t-case.  Put a D60 in the front.  Tons of work, and looks incredible on those 40’s.

 

OTHER NEWS:

 

•Good tow chain and wire rope is available at a good price from F&M or FHM, or something or other over on Gish Rd.  Good prices, located about ¼ mile from 880/101 “on the right”.

 

•Alicia has sale info on a Toyota (mid 90’s) with a blown engine…cheap!  Contact Alicia.

 

•The Forest Service has issued their DEIS decision, and it is a favorable one for wheelers.  It won’t leave things the way they were, but they are not closing down the majority of trail either.  The decision went from the next to worst, to the next to best!  Everyone’s comments and hard work paid off!  Good job!

 

•On The Rocks TV - Aired Moab this past week.  Production is back on after the producer spent time in the hospital.  Apparently three members of the Dirty Thirty are from Northern California, so it may be highly likely that we will be on TV! Terry sent in a suggestion for the filming crew to produce a show based on our BBQ run!

 

PAST RUNS AND CHANCES TO LOCK AXLES:

 

•Paul C ran Hollister a few weeks ago and reported that the park is in pretty good shape.  There was not a lot of dust, and the trails were in good shape.  However, the mini Rubicon was not in good shape.

 

•The Snow run was cancelled due to busy schedules, work, and a other commitments by many of the members.  Another run was proposed for the following week, however that didn’t materialize either…

 

•CB workshop was a huge success…see email report sent out previously.

 

•Moab Run Meeting - The Moab group at Lyle’s restaurant for a planning meeting for those going to Moab.  Running Moab on APRIL 19th – 27th;

 

FUTURE RUNS:

 

THIS SATURDAY APRIL 12th - Hollister Run
Meet at the obstacle course at 10am.  This will be a good time for a shake down cruise for those going to Moab, just don’t break!

 

APRIL 19th – 27th;  MOAB HISTORICAL RUN
Lyle will be leading the club’s first organized trip to MOAB this year for a week’s worth of wheeling the slick rock! More information to be provided as we approach the departure date.   See above for April  meeting details.

 

MAY 10th - ADOPT-A-TRAIL
You know the drill… Meet in Tracy at the ARCO, at Grant Line Rd (2nd Grant Line road exit on 580 when coming from the bay area) at the bottom of the hill.  We will meet at the ARCO at 7:30am.  Be gassed up, coffee’s up, and ready to run.  We should be at the Angles Camp Burger King parking lot, on Highway 49/4, across the street from Murphy’s Grade Rd. at 9:30-9:45am.  From there we will drive up Murphy’s Grade Rd. to Highway 4, to Arnold and meet up at the Shell gas station at 10:30am.

 

JUNE 21 – BARNEY RILEY – Near Markleeville…hot springs, party!  Bring your Speedo… or not.

 

JULY 26 - BBQ Run  - This year our annual BBQ run will be at Cisco Grove near Truckee.

 

AUGUST 21-23 – The Rubicon !
I think we decided to run it the normal way again this year, as opposed to the Norcibur way.  Start at Loon Lake, camp at Buck’s Lake (within 20 feet of the road centerline).  More info to come.
