Here are my notes from the April Club Meeting we had last week; this is not an official minutes or anything, I want to get some info out to everybody...
First, the upcoming runs schedule:
April 15, 2006 was the Hollister Tax Evasion Run. I say was because as I type this it's already done, gone and past! How was it? Anyone go?
May 20, 2006 is the date chosen for the Club's annual Adopt-A-Trail Trail Opening. After careful consideration of the various environmental factors involved, including but not limited to checking the current weather and anticipated snow pack, we decided that it was in the best interest of everyone involved if we took the latter of the two possible dates for this run, so May 20th it is. Should be passable by then, unless california continues to be bad and suffers more wrath from the Weather Gods.
NOCIBUR, previously scheduled for late June has been shelved until August. Same reason as above.
June 21 through 25, 2006 will be the TCLA Rubithon. This run will not be rescheduled (we think).
July 8, 2006 (with the alternate being July 15). Previously named the "Janet Maleski Death Valley Death To A/C Run" I have decided to shorten it and fit it into the Club's current Death Valley run naming convention to simply, "Hot Trot". Like runs in the Sierras affected by late season snowfalls, the actual dates for Hot Trot will be determined when we see what kind of hot weather we're having, hoping for the hotter of the two possible dates. The final decision will probably be made next month.
July 29, 2006 is the date chosen for the Club's annual BBQ, run and BBQ. Mmmm... Steak... Mmmm... This year we've decided to hold the event way up on the Niagara Rim Trail, figuring that this has a little variety for everyone and should work out fine. Hopefully by Late July the snow levels will be down enough so that we can all get our tow rigs into the campground, but you never know...
September 14 through 17, 2006 is the date chosen for Paul Piazza's Swamp Lake Swamp O' Fun Run. Paul wrote a terrific announcement for this just a few e-mails above this one. Or below this one, depending on how you list your e-mails.
Late September, possibly the last weekend in September or potentially the first weekend in October will be the Fordyce Run. If breaking your rig on the normal trail is not enough, one can always head in to Meadow Lake via the official County road with your tow vehicle and bust more equipment there.
OK, feel free to add to this list if you feel like leading a run or even if you think anything ought to be added or - gasp - I forgot anything.
Next issue are the upcoming elections for Club Officers for the 2006-2007 term. This time around none of us are term-limited, so one option might be to just leave us all in except... Like stinky diapers all politicians must be changed regularly and quickly.
First, I'm going to go way out on a limb here and hope that next month we vote in the amendment to the bylaws that I passed around during the meeting that does away with the position of CA4WDC Delegate. So far we have no nominations for that position and I'm doubting that Art wants to have to keep going to all those North District meetings.
Nominations we
*do* have are for President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Nominations are of course still being accepted for each of these positions, please don't just accept the idea that it's been filled. If you know of someone well suited to the position by all means, get the nomination in (a simple reply to this e-mail is good enough) and get that new blood flowing!
President - Terry Johnson
Vice President - Alicia Wilson
Secretary - Joe Maleski
Treasurer - Paul Piazza
